Job description
SENIOR DEVOPS ENGINEER
Auckland | Enterprise | Closing on 1st December 2025
A bit about us…
RocketWerkz is an ambitious PC video games studio based on Auckland’s waterfront. Founded by Dean Hall, creator of hit survival game DayZ, we are independently-run but have the backing of one of the world's largest games companies. Our open-world simulation and survival games Icarus and Stationeers are out on Steam, and we have multiple projects in development including Kitten Space Agency.
We need you!
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you’ll work closely with the Enterprise Team to enhance the infrastructure and developer experience behind BRUTAL, a next generation game development framework that powers the video game titles built by RocketWerkz.
In this role, you’ll lead efforts to refine our development pipelines, improve environment reliability, and strengthen release automation; with a strong emphasis on GitHub-centric workflows. You’ll work closely with engineers developing the BRUTAL framework, helping streamline how they build, integrate, and deliver multi-platform features.
This position is ideal for someone passionate about developer enablement, automation, and continuous delivery, who thrives at the intersection of software engineering, infrastructure, and developer productivity.
A day in the life…
Every day at RocketWerkz is different, but here are a few things you can expect to do in your role:
Support developers by making improvements to the CI/CD pipelines that can also be integrated into easy to use local workflows
Promote robust version control practices, including branching, merging, and code reviews, while assisting developers to follow them
Design NuGet package delivery workflows that enable fast integration and ease of debugging
Maintain multi-platform environments serving as build agents and satellite developer workstations
Manage integrations between CI/CD and services such as Slack and Discord
Work closely with production to coordinate releases and potential rollback strategies
Ensure secure handling of credentials and secrets within CI/CD pipelines
Communicate changes to processes and workflows to developers through documentation and Slack
To get this all done, we’d like you to have:
Proven CI/CD expertise in complex, multi-platform projects
Experience using multiple operating systems and project management tools
Mastery of Git
First hand experience using GitHub, including Actions and Pages
Understanding of secure deployment, secret management, and compliance standards
Commitment to documentation, continuous learning, and ownership of delivery quality
Ability to estimate workload and anticipate delivery risks ahead of time
Experience facilitating a team with meeting delivery goals
Excellent collaboration, communication, and troubleshooting skills
Flexibility to adapt to evolving tools and technologies
We’d love it if you also have:
Strong opinions about DevOps
A love for games
Knowledge of C family of languages (C, C++, C#)
Good understanding of the .NET ecosystem
Experience developing build pipelines for games
